10 Suggestions for a Great Marriage

those of you who got engaged at Christmas

               those who got engaged 2007/2008

those of you who are planning a wedding in 2008/2009

Have you considered the choices and options available to you and there are many!

Here are some practical points to think about when you are planning your wedding.

1.       Whose wedding is it?

2.       What kind of wedding do you want?

3.       What are the options?

To help you decide your alternatives you need to consider the following:

   ·  How much of a budget are you prepared to spend?

   ·  Do you want an Irish wedding ?, If so how large or small?

   ·  Do you want a wedding abroad ?, If so how large or small?

No matter which option you choose at this stage there are some practical steps to be taken.

 1. Contact your priest or clergyman.

 2. Choose your wedding date and the church.

 3. Take time out for each other and your relationship by attending an ACCORD Marriage Preparation course. Early booking is advised.

 4. Notify the state. A minimum of three months notice must be given.

 5. If you have chosen a Catholic Church wedding spend some time in the planning of your wedding ceremony as a couple.

 6. Options with regard to your wedding reception, photography, flowers, invites etc are dependent on your own personal choice and the extent of your budget, remember it's your wedding!

As you make plans for the happiest day of your life remember this is a day that should be stress free, a day to be enjoyed. A day you can look back on in the future as the day you began your married life together. Therefore any time spent in the planning of this day will make it truly memorable. So with the choices you make and the options you take may we wish you a perfect day.
