Counsellor's Role
Our counsellors deliver professional expertise in a humane, reassuring atmosphere. They help you to clarify your particular situation, facilitate you to express your thoughts and feelings and help you to explore new options and agree a course of action.
Qualifications & Experience
All our counsellors, men & women, go through a rigorous selection process. They are trained to the highest standards which builds on innate qualities of genuiness, warmth and understanding.
Supervision & Training
All ACCORD counsellors receive ongoing professional supervision and continuous specialist training in relationship counselling. This ensures the service you receive is of the highest quality.
The Reception Interview:
This first session establishes the exact nature of your problem and explains the process and commitments. If you need help other than marriage & relationship counselling we will refer you to an appropriate agency.
Records:
Notes are written after each counselling session. These notes are seen only by the counsellor, are stored in a secure locked cabinet and will be destroyed one year after counselling ends.
Ethics Policy:
All ACCORD counsellors work under a strict code of ethics and practice. This policy protects our clients and ensures a high quality service
Complaints:
ACCORD welcomes and values your opinion. If you are unhappy please tell us. Initially your concerns are handled by the centre you are attending. If you are not happy with your treatment locally you have the right to contact our Regional and Central office.
